The Science stream offers a dynamic professional career with multiple opportunities to explore. Today, is the era of science and technology. There is a high demand of research and development (R&D) and innovation.

In India, science stream is sub divided into two branches namely, the Non-Medical Stream (PCM-Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) and Medical Stream (PCB-Physics, Chemistry and Biology).

Science stream opens up with plethora of opportunities. In this article, we shall be discussing the career options and all possible aspects and opportunities for class XIIth pass students with PCM. The first and foremost career option with PCM combination is Engineering, which has become one of the most promising career opportunities after XIIth grade.

Engineering: Bachelor of Engineering (B. Tech)

12th pass students from science stream can opt for Engineering career. He or She has to appear for the entrance examination conducted on national level, JEE main (Joint Entrance Examination).

This is one of the mandatory entrance examination considered by almost all the engineering institutes of the country for the admission of bachelor of engineering programme. JEE main is conducted twice in every year, as follows –

JEE main, session 1 – Notification comes in December and examination conducted in the month of January.

JEE main, session 2 – Notification comes in January and examination in the month of April.

BTech

Apart from this, many of the premium institutes have their own entry scheme to enrol student for engineering degree programme. Army and Navy also conduct its own entry scheme to enrol candidate for their engineering programme known as Technical Entry Army Wing and Technical Entry Navy Wing respevtively. Before applying for the above courses it is mandatory to appear for JEE main entrance examination.

Architecture: Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch)

B. Arch is a Five years undergraduate programme for class 12th pass out with PCM stream who want to pursue a career as architect. This programme is designed for the academic requirement of practising architecture. It includes the activity of designing models of building, preparing of blue prints and other physical structures of any land and building. Their demand is increasing as the commercial property industry and construction industry is rising every day. They work both in government and private sectors.
JEE main paper 2 is mandatory for all those who want to take admission in IITs and NITs B. Arch programme. For other colleges candidates can appear in National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) conducted by the Council of Architecture for admission to Bachelor programme.

Planning: Bachelor of Planning (B. Planning)

Bachelor of planning is a very recent and upcoming course in the country. Bachelor of planning is Four years undergraduate professional degree providing the basic knowledge of planning, skills and techniques which is required for a professional planner. The course mainly focuses on sustainable development and managing natural resources.

JEE main paper 2 is compulsory for all those who want to take admission in IITs and NITs B. Planning programme. For other colleges candidates can appear in National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA), conducted by the Council of Architecture for admission to Bachelor programme. Commercial Pilot

In India aviation industry is one of the fastest growing industry. Huge growth can be seen in recent era. Indian Aviation Industry is the 3rd largest aviation industry of the world. There are tremendous career opportunities for all those who want to fly high and touch the sky. To get a Pilot job, it is mandatory to have a commercial pilot license. A candidate with patience, discipline, balance, Bachelor of Planning (B. Planning) high alert mind, a sharp eye and dedication towards the job can opt for this industry. It is a highly challenging job that requires hard work and problem solving skills. Commercial Pilot License holders are hired to fly aircrafts by national and international airlines.

In India there are more than 50 pilot training centres and flying clubs are operating. All class 12th pass out with PCM and english are eligible for the course. A minimum of 55% marks required. Minimum age required is 17 years.

One can also do Bachelor in Aviation( B.Sc Aviation). The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) conducts a national level entrance test known as IGRUA entrance test ( Indria Gandhi Rashtriya Ran Academy) for Three years B. Sc aviation course. Merchant Navy

Merchant Navy is the maritime commercial shipping industry. Merchant Navy ships, transport cargo and passengers to destinations around the world. Merchant navy officers are responsible for the safe navigation and operation of the ship. Their job offers chance to travel the world, visit different places and meet people and see different cultures. Merchant Navy is a non-government organisation. It is not part of Indian Navy.

All PCM students are eligible for this course. All aspirants have to take the All India Merchant Navy Entrance Test (AIMNET). Candidate should be in age group of 17-25 years.
